Intra-provincial and inter-provincial migration between 2011 and 2013: the London Economic Region

The report intends to explore and identify trends associated to the population migration in the London Economic Region (LER) during 2011-2013. Population migration is an important component in understanding the dynamic of the labour force in the region. Ontario Ministry of Agriculture Food and Rural Affairs (OMAFRA) - London Resource Centre - released  the Middlesex County Rural Guide - June 2015 Edition. As the document's hosting site (Middlesex County) indicates, the guide provides "one-stop location for the contacts you may need on a regular basis" regarding agricultural, food  and environmental related government and community resources.

Internet Job Postings in the London Economic Region - Q2 of 2015

This report provides a view on the dynamics of the labour demand in the London Economic Region. Quarter-by-quarter and over-a-year comparisons as well as visual presentation of the data allow the reader to understand better the regional labour market progression. As suggested in the document, the number of internet job postings would represent a fair surrogate measure of the labour demand in the area. Immigrants and Labour Market: A London Perspective

In May 2015, the City of London has produced a comprehensive report exploring the local immigrant labour market, focusing on the successful support services as well as on identifying opportunities for improvement. The report is the result of an extensive collaboration among local community and government agents concerned with providing a healthy and exciting support system that would lead to the quickest integration of the newcomers into the Canadian society.

EmployerOne Survey – 2015 summary results

The EmployerOne is an annual survey collecting local information about HR needs and practices. It is completed by employers during the month of January on a voluntary basis. A select number of Ontario’s Workforce Planning and Development Boards have been assigned to deploy the survey and report results in 2015. EMO WPDB has been collecting data from employers in London Economic Region, which includes Elgin, Middlesex and Oxford counties. The summary of these results is attached below, at the bottom of the page.

The internet job postings report for Elgin, Middlesex and Oxford (EMO) region, quarter four (Q4) of 2014, offers a unique perspective upon the unmet demand in the regional labour market. Although this is just a piece of the larger puzzle called the labour market in EMO region, it assists in the overall understanding of this market. Particularly, the current document allows for short-term comparisons, quarter-to-quarter (Q4 vs. Q3 of 2014), as well as long-term comparisons, year-long (Q4 of 2014 vs. Q4 of 2013).

Canada-Ontario Job Grant

Ontario's workforce is our most valuable asset. As the economic environment evolves, so do the skills needs of employers. Experience shows that employer involvement in training improves business performance.

On March 28, 2014, Ontario signed the Canada-Ontario Job Fund Agreement with the federal government. The agreement is a key source of funding for new initiatives to help Ontario's employers develop their workforce through employer-led training.
